Terminalia chebula is called the "king of medicines" in Tibet and is one of the prime Ayurvedic herbs used in India because of its extraordinary healing powers. At the same time, it is known to promote tissue growth and health.21 Traditionally, it is used in natural colon cleansers to address constipation, digestive orders, irregular fevers, flatulence, ulcers, vomiting, colic, and hemorrhoids--as well as cancer.22 Gastric bypass surgery and colon cleansing
For many people with colon related issues, like irritable bowel syndrome and celiac disease, gluten wreaks havoc on the digestive system. Even if you don't have one of these conditions, gluten may still contribute to inflation in your gut and colon. If you don’t want to cut out all grains from your diet, there are some great gluten-free alternatives like quinoa that also contain fiber and colon-friendly nutrients.[15]
Your digestive system is the main entry point of outside toxins, and as such is an important barrier between you and environmental toxins and invaders. It makes sense then that 80 percent of your immune system is in your gut. Your gut-associated lymphatic tissue (GALT) and microbiome are components of your immune system that are attached to the mucosal lining of your intestines. When that lining is covered with old, rotting feces, it makes it difficult for your immune system to do its job, and as a result, you catch colds and flus more easily, and the gut is virtually defenseless against invading parasites and Candida fungal overgrowth.
Although common colon cleansing procedures help you lose weight, they carry risks. Dr. Michael Picco, a gastroenterologist at the Mayo Clinic, says that colon cleansing can cause bowel perforations, infections and dehydration. The procedure may not be appropriate for people with kidney disease, heart disease and other chronic medical problems. Conventional medicine practitioners also note that your body naturally eliminates toxins, making colon cleansing unnecessary as a detoxification method. Discuss the risks of colon cleansing with a doctor to determine whether it is a safe choice for you.

And more doctors are becoming aware of how endemic yeast infections such as Candida albicans truly are. Symptoms include chronic fatigue (especially after eating), depression, bloating and gas, cramps, chronic diarrhea or constipation, rectal itching, allergies, severe premenstrual syndrome (PMS), impotence, memory loss, severe mood swings, recurrent fungal infections (such as athlete's foot), extreme sensitivity to chemicals (perfumes, smoke, odors, etc.), and lightheadedness or drunkenness after minimal wine, beer, or sugar ingestion.
Following the session, I didn’t feel very different. I’d once read a post-colonic account where the writer recalled feeling so clean afterward that she craved nothing other than water and cucumbers. Well, that wasn’t the case for me! I was hungry! Sandra said that I should stick to soft food for the rest of the day so I had some boiled squash and rice, but I was craving a thick slice of pizza. My stomach did feel empty, but not much more than it would after any substantial “movement.”
Hi ……. I hope you can help me. I usually mix pink salt with ginger and lemon juice together as I have heard its really good for rosacea.I drink this mixture just before lunch and dinner but I am concerned about the quantity of each ingredient because it may be too strong. I have was diagnose with acne rosacea 4 years ago and I am now 53 years old. Could you please tell me how much of each ingredient I should be using, how much I should consume each time I take it and is it true that it’s beneficial for rosacea. I would really appreciate a reply .Thank you.
Consider that a sluggish bowel can retain pounds of old toxic fecal matter (2--3 pounds is common, 10--20 pounds is not as unusual as you might think, and up to 65 pounds has actually been reported in exceptional cases). Often, the real cause behind sickness and disease is this retention and reabsorption of built-up toxic waste. Now, there are a number of skeptics such as Dr. Robert Carrol of the Skeptic's Dictionary who have a problem with the assertion that a sluggish bowel can retain old fecal matter. With great finality, Dr. Carrol proclaims, "The idea that our bowels are retaining pounds or tens of pounds of 'toxic and poisonous fecal matter' is false, false, false."8
Wolf said people's curiosity about cleansing possibly stems from the idea that the bowel is a dirty place, and that getting rid of waste is a good idea. She said she usually doesn't recommend colon hydrotherapy, but has suggested it for a few people to use as colonoscopy preparation when traditional methods have failed. She's also recommended it for patients who had severe constipation, before there were strong drugs that could help remedy this problem.
Would I recommend colon hydrotherapy? Absolutely. I think that it is a worthwhile endeavour. It’s virtually painless and it’s a therapeutic experience for your body & spirit. I do expect that I will make a habit of having a session every few years. Of course, my one big recommendation is to keep probiotics on-hand and enjoy a nice big bowl of yogurt after your session.
Another way to distinguish between a colon cleanse diet and Colon Health and some other types of detox diets is what you are not allowed to have. It’s generally advised to shy away from dairy products, refined sugars of any sort, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, or anything else that is less than pure, whole, raw foods. This should be accompanied by plenty of water. Dehydration is often a major factor in how well the colon functions, because without adequate moisture, food or waste products may be more likely to cling to the colon walls, rather than passing through.
If you do want to feel lighter or use colonic lavage as a kind of reset ritual, here’s what you need to know. First you’ll complete a comprehensive heath appraisal to ensure the procedure is appropriate for your health state and goals. Pre-procedure checks at credible clinics can involve testing urine for body hydration, pH levels and diabetes. Once you’re in the clear, weight and blood pressure are taken.
All the toxins that you eat, drink, breathe, and absorb through your skin end up processed by your gastrointestinal system, kidneys, and liver. If they're not forced from your organs as quickly as possible, they can wreak havoc on your body's systems. By releasing stagnant body waste, you reduce the causes and the risk of polyps, cysts and cancerous growths in your colon and gastrointestinal tract.
Dr. Jensen also described the problem associated with mucoid plaque (thickened intestinal mucus) as: "The heavy mucus coating in the colon thickens and becomes a host of putrefaction. The blood capillaries to the colon begin to pick up the toxins, poisons and noxious debris as it seeps through the bowel wall. All tissues and organs of the body are now taking on toxic substances. Here is the beginning of true autointoxication on a physiological level."
A gut cleanse is a necessary step in repairing a poor gut. Why? A good cleanse will replace foods that aggravate and compromise our gastrointestinal health with gut-friendly foods that do three things – ‘heal and seal’ the gastrointestinal tract; provide probiotics for healthy gut bacteria; and provide fibre for bowel health. Think of the gut like a car. A gut cleanse is like a service, and gut-friendly foods and supplements are like premium fuel.
In truth, there are very few reported complaints about herbal laxatives when properly used. Problems occur when people dramatically overdose on such products, or more significantly, when manufacturers promote them for inappropriate uses.  For example, several years ago, there was an incident in which a healthy young woman in her 30's used a "dieter's tea" product (a senna based drink) to lose weight. She died for no apparent reason, and the doctor's said it must have been the senna in the tea.

Unless you’re among the small percentage of people who get regular colonics, that’s how much waste the average American adult has piling up in their intestines, and it can seriously affect your digestive health, as well as your weight loss. According to a 2016 study, the average American is getting more than 50% of their calories from ultra-processed foods, like sugary drinks from Starbucks, pizza, sodas like Coke and Pepsi, microwaveable meals, cookies, candy, fried chicken, greasy burgers and fries.

In 1998, the FDA reclassified several herbal laxatives including senna, aloe, and cascara sagrada as category III, meaning they required further research. Research for senna proceeded, but no results or comments were forwarded to the FDA for aloe or cascara sagrada. As a result, in 2002, senna was once again listed as category I (approved for over-the-counter use), but aloe and cascara sagrada, despite hundreds of years of history and being driven by similar anthraquinones, are now listed as category II (insufficient data).14

Colonics do work to flush loose waste and sediment from rectum and large intestine, but they have several drawbacks. They can actually weaken bowel muscles over time. Colonics don't draw toxins from bowel pockets or from tissue. They do, however, flush all bacteria out--the good as well as the bad. Colonics can also disrupt natural pH (acid/alkaline) balance) in the large intestine. Finally, depending on the skill of your therapist, you run the risk (low) that some water retained in the equipment from another patient's previous use may be injected into your colon. Yech!
