A gut cleanse is a necessary step in repairing a poor gut. Why? A good cleanse will replace foods that aggravate and compromise our gastrointestinal health with gut-friendly foods that do three things – ‘heal and seal’ the gastrointestinal tract; provide probiotics for healthy gut bacteria; and provide fibre for bowel health. Think of the gut like a car. A gut cleanse is like a service, and gut-friendly foods and supplements are like premium fuel.
Aside from juice or vegetable-rich diets, there are other foods that are often included within a colon cleanse diet Whole grains are a good way to bulk up internal waste and help move it out of the system in a quick and efficient manner. This includes brown rice, sprouted wheat, and grains such as amaranth and quinoa that are easy to digest yet provide essential energy. It’s recommended when on a colon cleanse diet to stay away from excessive spices or too many ingredients. Raw, whole foods tend to be the best way to go for purifying and detoxifying your system.
In a colon corrective, I recommend you look for a formula that contains all organic herbs such as: Cape aloe, Senna, Cascara sagrada, Barberry rootbark, Ginger root, Cayenne fruit, Fennel, and Terminalia chebula. (The Cape Aloe gives it strength, while the fennel makes it gentle.) These are the ingredients that I use in my own colon corrective formula. Let's look at them in a little more detail.

For decades health practitioners have been recommending gut cleanses to enhance their patient’s health and wellbeing. But this clinical concept has been given a bad rap from cleanses that promise a quick fix but don’t give the body the nutrients they need.
