Licorice root stimulates the production of digestive fluids and bile, soothes ulcers, helps reduce intestinal inflammation, and supports the healthy function of the kidneys, liver and bladder. If you were to eat a whole grain such as rice, it would produce stools that are full of fiber and loose. When you eat the same grain ground up (say, rice bread, for example) it produces stool that is much more compact like clay. I have a 14 year old (not overweight) that is not eating right, a lot of sugar, carbs, sodas and has shown low thyroid in blood tests along some liver problems. She is ADHD, but constantly complains from lack of energy, reflux and constantly hungry! Her cholesterol is high as so are her tryglycerios.
