Fresh ginger Root has a long history of use in herbal medicine. Specifically, in this formula, it is used for its ability to help control temporary nausea,18, fn] Yekta ZP1, Ebrahimi SM, Hosseini M, Nasrabadi AN, et al. "Ginger as a miracle against chemotherapy-induced vomiting." Iran J Nurs Midwifery Res. 2012 Jul;17(5):325-9. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23853643 which makes it useful when stimulating intestinal activating and in liver cleansing programs as well as in morning sickness during pregnancy. Ginger root is also a strong COX 2 inhibitor, which means it can help reduce inflammation in the intestinal tract. As a side note, in the Far East and India, ginger root is renowned for its aphrodisiac properties.
Probiotic foods are fermented foods that contain beneficial bacteria. They tend to have a slightly (or intense) sour taste and are also known for helping to curb cravings! Try sauerkraut, kimchi, natural yogurt and kefir! These foods help populate the gut with more good bacteria, giving our gut a stronger fighting power and ability to function well. It's also a good idea to take a probiotic supplement. Switch up the brand (and strains of bacteria) from time to time to give your body a variety of bacteria.
James, who was enlisted by NSW Health to help devise guidelines after the hepatitis incident, says that despite perceptions instilled by 49-buck daily deals, colonic lavage is an invasive medical procedure. It should be performed in a medically-run clinic by medically-trained practitioners au fait with infection control procedures. Many practitioners, James laments, are not medically trained.
The high chlorophyll content of green foods (such as alfalfa, wheatgrass, barley grass, spirulina, blue-green algae) makes them ideal for colon cleansing. In addition to cleansing, chlorophyll soothes and heals damaged tissue in the digestive tract. It helps the body to obtain more oxygen and draws out toxins. For this reason, chlorophyll is called “the internal deodorant.”
Another way to distinguish between a colon cleanse diet and Colon Health and some other types of detox diets is what you are not allowed to have. It’s generally advised to shy away from dairy products, refined sugars of any sort, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, or anything else that is less than pure, whole, raw foods. This should be accompanied by plenty of water. Dehydration is often a major factor in how well the colon functions, because without adequate moisture, food or waste products may be more likely to cling to the colon walls, rather than passing through.
This savory fruit is high in monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. These rich oils lubricate the intestinal walls and prevent toxins from clinging to the surface. What doesn’t become stuck eventually gets flushed out. On top of that, the fruit’s high magnesium and potassium content prevent constipation by drawing water into your digestive system.

A healthy gut is the foundation of a healthy body. Unfortunately many of us feel less than vibrant and vital and struggle with digestive issues or food sensitivities and a tendency to catch every cold that pass us by. Interestingly about 70% of the cells that make up our immune system are in the wall of our gut. Yet a sluggish digestion, poor diet, stress (a big trouble maker!), environmental toxins and food toxins can really take it's toll.
There are amazing benefits to being regular. When you do a colon cleanse then repopulate your microbiome with a good probiotic, you will flush all that old waste out and your digestive health will improve. You’ll fight off common illnesses, have a lot more energy, and best of all, boost your metabolism to burn fat and shed more pounds. Your vitamin, mineral and nutrient absorption will skyrocket and you’ll feel the difference – you won’t feel run down all the time. Your moods will be better and your memory sharper. Isn’t it time to purge all that old waste from your body and get started feeling better and burning fat?
Cayenne fruit, the potent, hot fruit of cayenne, has been used as medicine for centuries. Cayenne is helpful for various conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, including temporary constipation (by stimulating peristalsis and speeding up orocecal transit time19), stomach aches, cramping, and gas. Cayenne is also extremely beneficial for the circulatory system, helping to improve the elasticity of the walls of both the arterial and venous systems, maintaining normal blood platelet function, and working to help maintain normal blood pressure. And finally, cayenne is used in many herbal formulas as a "driver" -- to "push" the other herbs in the formula into the bloodstream more quickly.

For many people with colon related issues, like irritable bowel syndrome and celiac disease, gluten wreaks havoc on the digestive system. Even if you don't have one of these conditions, gluten may still contribute to inflation in your gut and colon. If you don’t want to cut out all grains from your diet, there are some great gluten-free alternatives like quinoa that also contain fiber and colon-friendly nutrients.[15]

For decades health practitioners have been recommending gut cleanses to enhance their patient’s health and wellbeing. But this clinical concept has been given a bad rap from cleanses that promise a quick fix but don’t give the body the nutrients they need. My opinion as a qualified, practising nutritionist is that, when done right, a gut cleanse is an essential step towards optimal gut health.
These fibrous and bright plants are great for sweeping clean the gut. They are also full of minerals and antioxidants that can help our body protect itself from the toxins we get exposed to. Keep in mind that if you have a lot of digestive issues it might be best to eat cooked vegetables, as these are easier to digest. Try simple soups, sautéing your greens or steaming them. Always add some healthy fat (butter, olive oil or avocado) and acid (lemon juice or vinegar) to support proper absorption of the vitamins in the greens.
The average American eats about 1,996 pounds of food a year, or about 5 ½ pounds a day -- totaling about 2700 calories (and growing). Theoretically, about 2/3 of that consists of liquids, water, and "fuel" content that you urinate, sweat out, or burn up. But that still leaves about 2 pounds of solid waste per day that must pass out through your bowel. If that seems high to you, then consider that just one Burrito Ultimo® at Baja Fresh, a typical fast food lunch item, weighs about 480 g, or just over a pound -- and there isn't a lot of water in it. At Sizzler, the steaks alone run 8-14 ounces, exclusive of any sides. So, bottom line, we have 2 pounds of fecal matter -- give or take -- produced every day in the average American. So what?
Each of these is unique, and each requires a different protocol. And they have nothing in common with "detox shampoos" and "detox water," which are, in fact, nonsensical. Then again, can't this same criticism be leveled at the medical community? Consider the term "evidence based medicine," which the medical community loves to claim as its defining principle. Hasn't it too been rendered largely meaningless considering that, according to a study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, only 11% of physicians actually rely on evidenced based medicine for all their treatments?1 It would seem that the medical critics of detoxing are not familiar with John 8:7, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

If you want to get more scientific, broccoli and similar vegetables contain a compound known as indole glucosinolates. The stomach digests the compound and converts it into indolocarbazole (ICZ). In turn, ICZ activates the stomach’s hydrocarbon receptors (AHR). The AHR resides in your intestines and regulates gut barrier function and removes environmental contaminants.
Maybe that’s because of the days prior to the flush day has to be well prepared to have succes on the flush day. I therefore have difficulty finding a good protocol for someone with bowel issues/adrenal fatigue (bloating, constipation, gas; all due to adrenal and thyroid issues that cause metabolic and endocrine problems and of course the Peutz Jeghers syndrome)
Super Colon Cleanse is an all-natural colon cleansing made with herbs and probiotics. This product provides gentle internal cleansing while also aiding in the digestive process. Super Colon Cleanse is made with senna leaf powder, psyllium husk powder, L. acidophilus, fennel, and other natural herbs that sweep the colon clean of waste and pathogens.
Colon-cleansing enthusiasts believe that periodically cleaning from the inside out removes waste stuck to the colon walls. This waste buildup also supposedly produces toxins that enter the blood and may be slowly poisoning people, contributing to a variety of symptoms — fatigue, bloating, irritated skin and weight gain — and health problems, from depression and allergies to arthritis and cancer.
Psyllium seeds and husks are rich in soluble fiber and have long been used to ease constipation and digestive system upset. As the University of Maryland Medical Center says, "Many well designed studies have shown that psyllium relieves constipation. When combined with water, it swells and produces more bulk, which stimulates the intestines to contract and helps speed the passage of stool through the digestive tract. Psyllium is widely used as a laxative in Asia, Europe, and North America."26 Studies show that in addition to increasing stool weight, supplementing with psyllium seed husk produces stools that are slick and gelatinous. Psyllium is unique in contrast with other viscous fibers. It is resistant to fermentation, whereas other soluble fibers tend to ferment in the colon. That's a significant advantage. Researchers also observed that psyllium seed gel provides lubrication that facilitates the propulsion of colon contents and produces a stool that is bulkier and moister than are stools produced when using comparable amounts of other bowel-regulating fiber sources. The bottom line is that studies have shown that an unfermented gel component of psyllium seed husk promotes laxation as a lubricant in humans.27

Mohan Garikiparithi got his degree in medicine from Osmania University (University of Health Sciences). He practiced clinical medicine for over a decade before he shifted his focus to the field of health communications. During his active practice he served as the head of the Dept. of Microbiology in a diagnostic centre in India. On a three-year communications program in Germany, Mohan developed a keen interest in German Medicine (Homoeopathy), and other alternative systems of medicine. He now advocates treating different medical conditions without the use of traditional drugs. An ardent squash player, Mohan believes in the importance of fitness and wellness.
The real purpose of colon cleansing is to “facilitate the removal of stagnant faecal matter and subsequent proliferation of bacteria and their toxins, and re-educate the colon to perform its natural functions effectively”. An early-’90s study at Britain’s Royal College of Surgeons concluded that the 52-plus toxins produced by the bowel were the major factor in controlling human disease.

Eating meat is linked to cancer and is hard on your digestive system. The increased risk and strain it puts on your colon are reason enough for many to avoid eating meat altogether. However, if you choose to include meat in your diet, you should, at least, reduce or eliminate red meat. Try eating vegetarian or vegan meals a few days each week. If you notice improvements to your health, increase the number of meat-free days.

It sounds harmless enough. You lie comfortably on a table as warm, filtered water gets pumped into your colon through a disposable rectal tube. For about 45 minutes, the water works to soften up any waste material and expel it from the body. Many believe that a clean colon can lead to a healthier life and reduce the chances of many diseases. Stars are doing it to slim down right before a big premiere. But does it really work? The jury is split.

And as if that were not enough, it has been estimated by some health experts that as many as 80 percent of Americans are afflicted with intestinal parasites. Many in the medical community would dispute this number, calling it far too high, and if you limit your discussion of parasites to things such as tapeworms and Chinese liver flukes, they are correct. But as soon as you open up to the true nature of the problem and include the lesser known, but far more prevalent, parasites such as Fasciolopsis buskii, the 80 percent figure begins to fall into line. And if you include pathogenic E. coli and Candida yeast overgrowths, then the 80 percent figure is decidedly conservative. Remember, the functional definition of a parasite is an organism that lives in or on another organism (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the host's expense.
