Following the session, I didn’t feel very different. I’d once read a post-colonic account where the writer recalled feeling so clean afterward that she craved nothing other than water and cucumbers. Well, that wasn’t the case for me! I was hungry! Sandra said that I should stick to soft food for the rest of the day so I had some boiled squash and rice, but I was craving a thick slice of pizza. My stomach did feel empty, but not much more than it would after any substantial “movement.”

I was using iodized sea salt and took the time to juice everything else myself. Would have been nice if he specified this in the recipe. So, FYI, use UN-IODIZED organic sea salt like Pink Himalayan or grayish-colored Celtic sea salt, not the store bought white stuff, per Dr Axe.
If you were to eat a whole grain such as rice, it would produce stools that are full of fiber and loose. When you eat the same grain ground up (say, rice bread, for example) it produces stool that is much more compact like clay. Clay-like stools are harder and more difficult to pass, and the pressure they put on your system can lead to constipation.

Sorry, but this is too one-sided. And this article is simply someone trying to sell something. I have had IBS-D for most of my life. What that means is Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea. For me, being somewhat constipated is a blessing! To not have to take medication every time I leave the house so that I won’t be running to the bathroom every five minutes is a blessing. When I hear “colon cleanse” all I hear is I will be locked in my bathroom for a day…at least. No thanks. I take a very good probiotic – recommended by a functional medicine practitioner. It is a capsule. 50 billion CFUs. I finally have normal bowel movements. Hey, it may not be normal to the author of this article, but I’m not having diarrhea every day. For which I am truly thankful!

Just came back from my first colonic. I could relate to many of the above comments. It did not hurt at all, chatted away with the therapist whilst she massaged my stomach. Not much came out after what was a promising start from the first flush but at the end of the session I was on the loo for a while. Basically I will try anything to relieve my symptoms of bloat gas and abdomen pain. So in for a penny in for a pound booked the second session already. According to the lovely therapist this is when I will start to see better results. Feeling quite light headed and very sleepy so going to have lie down after an eventful day.

When I called to make my appointment I received very basic instructions to avoid eating two hours beforehand so that I wouldn’t be digesting.
