The lymph vessels are a network of capillaries that filter blood impurities; they contain a clear, colorless fluid called lymph. Lymph passes from capillaries to lymph vessels and flows through lymph nodes that are located along the course of these vessels. Cells of the lymph nodes phagocytize, or ingest, impurities such as bacteria, old red blood cells, and toxic, cellular waste. Lymph fluid can also collect other impurities such as heavy metals, pesticides, and drug residues stored in bodily tissue.
According to the medical community, it is normal to have a bowel movement anywhere from three times a day, to three times a week.9 Three times a week works out to once every two days. If you produce 2 pounds of fecal matter a day and you only go to the bathroom once every two days, that means -- mathematically speaking -- that you are regularly storing upwards of 4 pounds of fecal matter in your colon…mathematically speaking. Since we're still in the average range for bowel movements, we're talking tens of millions of Americans who regularly store 4 pounds of fecal matter in their colons. Let's drop a pound off that in case we have a rounding error, and we're still at the high end of my assertion that 2--3 pounds of fecal matter being stored in the colon is common.
Just came back from my first colonic. I could relate to many of the above comments. It did not hurt at all, chatted away with the therapist whilst she massaged my stomach. Not much came out after what was a promising start from the first flush but at the end of the session I was on the loo for a while. Basically I will try anything to relieve my symptoms of bloat gas and abdomen pain. So in for a penny in for a pound booked the second session already. According to the lovely therapist this is when I will start to see better results. Feeling quite light headed and very sleepy so going to have lie down after an eventful day.

I know exactly what you mean about feeling “cleaner.” I don’t know if it’s a mental thing or if it’s physical — but there is definitely this sense of cleansed. 🙂 I am definitely looking forward to my next session. Every six months actually sounds like a good idea. I am so glad to know someone else that has actually done this and has something great to say! So far I’ve just been getting a lot of raised eyebrows. 😉 Healthy Eating for a Healthy Weight

Fibre recommendations are between 20 to 35 grams a day, but the modern affluent diet provides only about 10 g. (High amounts of fibre, however, should be avoided during inflammatory bowel conditions.) To meet the fibre requirement, consume daily five or more servings of vegetables and fruits, and six or more of whole grains. A half cup of fruit or vegetables or one cup of leafy, raw greens makes one serving. One grain serving is one slice of bread or one-half cup of cooked cereal, grain or pasta.
I have a 14 year old (not overweight) that is not eating right, a lot of sugar, carbs, sodas and has shown low thyroid in blood tests along some liver problems. She is ADHD, but constantly complains from lack of energy, reflux and constantly hungry! Her cholesterol is high as so are her tryglycerios. She used to be interested in a lot of sports an had lots of energy.  Now she feels tired and gets out of breath when she does sports, she has not gotten her period yet. I am very worried about her liver, thyroid and cholesterol and tryclycerius! Please try to recommend a program (that a 14 year old would be willing to follow!) to get her back to health!! Help!!
There has been a great misconception among the public and most medical professionals about how often a normal healthy person should move their bowels. For years, doctors have thought that anywhere between one bowel movement a day and one a week was normal. (Unfortunately, that's probably the norm for the doctors who think that.) However, what we have learned in the holistic community is that it is normal, and necessary, to have one bowel movement a day for each major meal (as opposed to a snack) you ate the day before. If you eat three major meals, you should have three bowel movements the next day. If you don't, you're not alone.
If you don’t have the time to follow the steps of colon cleansers that we have laid out for you, there are other options available on the market today. Colon cleansers come in a variety of different forms, including laxatives, high colonics, enemas, and pills. The way that they work is by helping your body to eliminate the harmful toxins that may have begun to build within your digestive tract. The idea behind regularly cleansing your colon is that it will assist your body in getting rid of all the unnecessary accumulated waste that has begun to build up over time. When slow foods stay within your digestive tract for a certain amount of time, your colon will begin to secrete mucous that literally keeps the toxins trapped within your system, along with clumps of undigested matter that can physically weigh you down.
“I DID IT TO FEEL BETTER & IT WORKED! Before using UNI KEY’s Colon Cleanse…I felt horrible all the time. I knew I was eating all the wrong foods and I continued to do so. I had horrible migraines all the time. 3 weeks into the program I feel amazing! Absolutely amazing! I lost 10 lbs the first full week. I went from a size 22 to a 16 and I continue to lose weight…I wanted to do the cleanse not for weight loss, but to feel better. Now I feel fantastic!” – Bonita O.

Fruits and berries provide water, fiber, and antioxidants. Apples, bananas, and strawberries are a great place to start, and you may already have them at home. Each of these can provide a significant portion of your daily fiber needs. Citrus fruits like oranges and lemons are also a great digestive aid and give you a vitamin C boost. Dried fruits like prunes and cranberries can also be beneficial for your colon and act as natural laxatives.[6]

Another significant factor to remember when embarking on any sort of colon cleanse diet is the importance of easing in and out of it, particularly if you are sticking to one of the stricter raw diets or are fasting. If you start eating normally right away after fasting for a few days, your body will go into shock and the colon will be even more stressed trying to cope with the overload of food. That is why it’s highly recommended to start off with adding in light soups, rice, or vegetables at the end of a Colon Cleansing diet.

I know several people who SWEAR by these treatments (some like the water ones, some like the juice/smoothie-only cleanses.) They participate more frequently, though, seeking a cleanse with the change of seasons. The only reason to really avoid it is if you have a suppressed immune system to begin with, which is not a problem for you! Congratulations for being brave enough to write about the experience. I didn’t find it it to be very “gross” at all, but then again, I may have a high threshold for bodily functions.
Marshmallow root (Althea officinalis) is particularly rich in mucilage and gets extremely gooey when wet, which makes it a great demulcent and emollient. This quality makes it particularly valuable for coating and protecting irritated mucous membranes in the mouth, throat, lungs,37 and, for our purposes in this formula, the gastrointestinal tract. It is used in this formula for treating inflammation and irritation of the alimentary canal--as well as to help regenerate the epithelial cells that line the intestinal tract.38 The active biochemicals in marshmallow are large carbohydrate (sugar) molecules, which make up the mucilage. This smooth, slippery substance can soothe and protect irritated mucous membranes throughout the body. Marshmallow has been known to relieve indigestion, kidney problems, urinary tract infections, and even external skin wounds such as boils and abscesses.
Unless you’re among the small percentage of people who get regular colonics, that’s how much waste the average American adult has piling up in their intestines, and it can seriously affect your digestive health, as well as your weight loss. According to a 2016 study, the average American is getting more than 50% of their calories from ultra-processed foods, like sugary drinks from Starbucks, pizza, sodas like Coke and Pepsi, microwaveable meals, cookies, candy, fried chicken, greasy burgers and fries.

Everything you need for detoxifying your body is available in your local grocery store if not already in your fridge. You don’t need to book an expensive appointment at a health spa or anything of that sorts. Food provides the natural pathway to detoxification. We’ll identify the top eight natural colon cleansing foods that do wonders for your digestive health. You probably already eat one or more of these items on a daily basis, so you’re partially on track without realizing it.

During a colon cleanse, large amounts of water — sometimes up to 16 gallons (about 60 liters) — and possibly other substances, such as herbs or coffee, are flushed through the colon. This is done using a tube that's inserted into the rectum. In some cases, smaller amounts of water are used and are left to sit in the colon for a short time before being removed.

Colonics do work to flush loose waste and sediment from rectum and large intestine, but they have several drawbacks. They can actually weaken bowel muscles over time. Colonics don't draw toxins from bowel pockets or from tissue. They do, however, flush all bacteria out--the good as well as the bad. Colonics can also disrupt natural pH (acid/alkaline) balance) in the large intestine. Finally, depending on the skill of your therapist, you run the risk (low) that some water retained in the equipment from another patient's previous use may be injected into your colon. Yech!
