The real purpose of colon cleansing is to “facilitate the removal of stagnant faecal matter and subsequent proliferation of bacteria and their toxins, and re-educate the colon to perform its natural functions effectively”. An early-’90s study at Britain’s Royal College of Surgeons concluded that the 52-plus toxins produced by the bowel were the major factor in controlling human disease.
I have had Crohn's disease for almost 40 years. For the last decade it's been fairly well controlled re: gastric symptoms via diet and low-dose naltrexone (LDN) -- though my immune system problems are not. After two surgeries long ago I'm missing a good-sized chunk of my small intestine. As I have a short bowel I have AT LEAST two bowels movements a day, very often three, sometimes four (usually not diarrhea). My colon has not been involved in the disease.
This savory fruit is high in monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. These rich oils lubricate the intestinal walls and prevent toxins from clinging to the surface. What doesn’t become stuck eventually gets flushed out. On top of that, the fruit’s high magnesium and potassium content prevent constipation by drawing water into your digestive system.
If you were to eat a whole grain such as rice, it would produce stools that are full of fiber and loose. When you eat the same grain ground up (say, rice bread, for example) it produces stool that is much more compact like clay. Clay-like stools are harder and more difficult to pass, and the pressure they put on your system can lead to constipation.
Another significant factor to remember when embarking on any sort of colon cleanse diet is the importance of easing in and out of it, particularly if you are sticking to one of the stricter raw diets or are fasting. If you start eating normally right away after fasting for a few days, your body will go into shock and the colon will be even more stressed trying to cope with the overload of food. That is why it’s highly recommended to start off with adding in light soups, rice, or vegetables at the end of a Colon Cleansing diet.
These “Frankenfoods” are loaded with artificial ingredients that have names you can’t even pronounce. And they’re missing one key ingredient – fiber. So they sit in your gut for days or even weeks, fermenting and rotting instead of digesting and providing nutrients. Constipation, inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, bloating and weight gain are just some of the results.
In contrast with the colon corrective formula, a good colon regenerator is cleansing and soothing. It is used periodically in conjunction with the corrective formula. The regenerator formula is a strong purifier and intestinal vacuum. It draws old fecal matter and mucoid plaque off the walls of your colon and out of any bowel pockets. It also works to draw out poisons, toxins, heavy metals such as mercury and lead, and even remove radioactive residue such as strontium 90. A good regenerator will also remove over 3,000 known drug residues. Its natural mucilaginous properties will soften old hardened fecal matter for easy removal and also provide an excellent remedy for any inflammation or irritation in the stomach and intestines. This formula is helpful in irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's and diverticular disease, and hemorrhoids. And on top of everything else, a good detoxifier will often eliminate the effects of food poisoning or stomach flu in 20-40 minutes--literally soaking them up.
Just came back from my first colonic. I could relate to many of the above comments. It did not hurt at all, chatted away with the therapist whilst she massaged my stomach. Not much came out after what was a promising start from the first flush but at the end of the session I was on the loo for a while. Basically I will try anything to relieve my symptoms of bloat gas and abdomen pain. So in for a penny in for a pound booked the second session already. According to the lovely therapist this is when I will start to see better results. Feeling quite light headed and very sleepy so going to have lie down after an eventful day.
Although common colon cleansing procedures help you lose weight, they carry risks. Dr. Michael Picco, a gastroenterologist at the Mayo Clinic, says that colon cleansing can cause bowel perforations, infections and dehydration. The procedure may not be appropriate for people with kidney disease, heart disease and other chronic medical problems. Conventional medicine practitioners also note that your body naturally eliminates toxins, making colon cleansing unnecessary as a detoxification method. Discuss the risks of colon cleansing with a doctor to determine whether it is a safe choice for you.
Terminalia chebula is called the "king of medicines" in Tibet and is one of the prime Ayurvedic herbs used in India because of its extraordinary healing powers. At the same time, it is known to promote tissue growth and health.21 Traditionally, it is used in natural colon cleansers to address constipation, digestive orders, irregular fevers, flatulence, ulcers, vomiting, colic, and hemorrhoids--as well as cancer.22
While the Super Colon Cleanse has a lot to offer, some consumers say that the product is no different from an ordinary laxative. Others say that although there were noticeable improvements in bowel movement, the product was not as effective in elimination as other products. It’s also worth noting that the Super Colon Cleanse has no clear money back guarantee or policy on return purchases.
Each of these is unique, and each requires a different protocol. And they have nothing in common with "detox shampoos" and "detox water," which are, in fact, nonsensical. Then again, can't this same criticism be leveled at the medical community? Consider the term "evidence based medicine," which the medical community loves to claim as its defining principle. Hasn't it too been rendered largely meaningless considering that, according to a study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, only 11% of physicians actually rely on evidenced based medicine for all their treatments?1 It would seem that the medical critics of detoxing are not familiar with John 8:7, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
A typical colon cleanse involves dietary modification and the use of an herbal supplement. Most cleanse plans last 10 or more days. During the cleanse, a dieter eats small amounts of fruits and vegetables and avoids all processed foods. Taking psyllium husk or bentonite clay helps you move waste through your colon, increasing the frequency of your bowel movements.
